The majestic Austin State Capitol

I’m not a major history person but I wanted to check out the Capitol and I am glad that I visited this majestic historic place. The Capitol Complex is located in the heart of downtown Austin.

I would like to share my experience in short that it is magnificent architectural monument from in and out. The exterior walls are “sunset red” granite and an additional structural support is provided by masonry walls and cast iron columns and beams. The foundation is limestone.

The Texas State Capitol houses offices for the governor, secretary of state and all legislators, as well as the Senate and House chambers, a library,a  bookstore and cafeteria. Twenty-two acres of area is surrounded by trees and monuments. The Capitol, can be viewed almost every day of the week except few holidays. Also free 45-minute guided tours are provided.

I really liked visitors center nearby where you can learn history of Austin in an easy manner via games, videos, paintings etc. I would definitely like to visit here again.
